The sculpture was presented to the Mayor, Achim Menge, on 24.10,12, within the metal fabrication workshop of Auguste Victoriamine, in Marl (the last operational mine in the region). It will be permanently installed on site as a gateway feature in Oer-Erkenschwick, about this time next year, once houses have been built around it’s intended location.
The people in the photo, from left to right, are: Achim Lask, Engineer from Auguste Victoria (AV), Norbert Homann (Sparkasse Vest Bank, who sponsored the work), John O’Rourke, Bernd Immohr, City Planner from Oer-Erkenschwick (OE), Alois Thull (AV), Peter Raudszus, Mayors Office (OE), Rolf Stellmacher, who converted my 200 plus scale drawings into Autocad for enlargement/fabrication (AV), Günter Hintz (President of OE Twin Town Committee), Achim Menge, Mayor and Jürgen Kroker (AV).
On the 24th of October 2012, the Lord Mayor of Oer-Erkenscwick will be presented with the finished sculpture. The work will be shown in the Auguste Victoria mine, in marl, then kept storage until building work in Oer-Erkenschwick (where the sculpture will eventually be sited) is completed. I’ll be there.
